WEST BENGAL BEEDI WORKERS' WELFARE SCHEME ( PART-I)

The objective of the scheme is to ameliorate the living conditions of the Beedi Workers in the State of West Bengal by way of giving grants under certain conditions to facilitate :
• Providing for electric connection to the houses to some Beedi Workers,
•The construction of a house by an individual worker, and
•Providing for infrastructural facilities like approach road,  water supply,  sanitation etc. in a group/cluster housing.
■The activities of the Scheme :
The scheme shall include following activities:
▶Electrification :
To subsidise for electrification to the Beedi Workers ' houses,  an amount of Rs. 2500/- per worker will be granted to a Beedi Worker for domestic electrification.
●Conditions for eligibility :
    ○ A Beedi Worker,  whether an employee of an establishment or factory or Home Worker engaged in the Beedi industry for not less than one year.
  □ The monthly income of the family should not exceed Rs. 6,500/- per month.
  □ The worker should have a house in his/her name or in the name of his/her family member.  In case the house is not owned by the Beedi Worker, the owner must give no objection for the electrification to the effect that " I/we have no objection to allow the fixing and erection of the necessary apparatus for the service connection on or within the premises number .................

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ □ The electric supply line must be available in the vicinity of the house proposed for electric connection. ■Procedure for Application: The application in the prescribed form in Form I as annexed complete in all respects along with separate filled in application form for connection addressed to the power supplying company shall be submitted by the applicant worker to the Assistant Labour Commissioner of the area where the house is located.     The Assistant Labour Commissioner will cause scrutiny of the applications and send the same to the local office of the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL)/ Callcutta Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC Ltd.) for feasibility of the connection.
